The area lies near Dubai Creek, a few meters away from the mainland known as the ‘cape of the creek' in Arabic. One of the well-known landmarks in the area is Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, home to thousands of birds, crustaceans and other marine species. Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of 6.2 sq. Km and features a variety of salt flats, intertidal mudflats, mangroves and lagoons that birds use for their nests and individual habitats.
